Join us as Hearing in Color proudly presents evenings of free live music at the illustrious Epiphany Center in Chicago. Introducing, Golden Hour, a captivating series that promises to fill you with vibrant hues of melody and harmony in a laid-back atmosphere. This exceptional series is a unique opportunity to witness some of our favorite previous collaborators come together for one-night-only performances.

All performances will be presented for free at Epiphany Center ( 201 S Ashland Ave, Chicago, IL 60607) between 5pm and 8pm.

A Golden Hour Celebration
with LaRob K. Rafael & Friends

Join Hearing in Color and Artistic Director, LaRob K. Rafael in a relaxed recital of songs about love and the holidays. He’ll be joined by pianist and composer Michael R. Oldham as well as a band of musicians to play carols, originals, even R&B covers. Kick off the season of love with a jukebox concert of great music aimed to drum up end of year support for Hearing in Color!

John Bitoy & D-Composed

November 2, 2023 was an evening of collaborative music-making as we showcased the extraordinary talents of Afro-Dominican pianist John Bitoy, based in Chicago, and the highly acclaimed all-Black music collective, D-Composed. From the timeless beauty of classical melodies to the cutting-edge sounds of contemporary compositions, these artists presented a captivating variety of styles that celebrate the remarkable musical contributions and cultural essence of Black artistry, including a world premiere of “Courage Under the Gaze” by Hearing in Color collaborating composer, Steve Wallace.

Kababayan Collective

Hearing in Color presented an evening of Filipino music featuring Baritone Dr. Joseph Legaspi brought to you by Kababayan Collective, a group of Filipino artists promoting music, community, and connection to their culture. This performance included music from the classical art song form of kundiman to contemporary OPM and closed the night with a performance by Chicago Filipino Folk Fusion Band, SamaSama Project.
